Lucia doesn't like herself and feels wretched. The fairies decide to h elp her and so they send her Roberta, a very valiant fairy who compose s songs. However, she is a beginner and rather careless with her spell s. From that day on, Roberta goes with Lucia to school, to the library , to the zoo'and everywhere she manages to get the girl into trouble w ith her miscast spells and by acting on her own initiative. But, final ly, after many adventures, Roberta the fairy achieves her aim. Lucia d iscovers her great beauty: she is unique and unrepeatable, like each o ne of us.
